Being aware that some 35,000 passengers present non-valid documentation at check-in, and under the heading “Know before you go, or they will say no,” the portal provides up-to-date information on passport, visa and health requirements, as well as customs, airport tax and currency information. The IATA travel center claims to be the most accurate source on international travel requirements available online “because we draw on a comprehensive database used by virtually every airline, and information gathered from over 1,000 official sources worldwide, such as immigration and police authorities.” Services provided in the portal are free-of-charge for passengers and online booking websites have the option to add the portal as a link, or on confirmation e-mails sent to passengers.
