Sea Tourism Popular Paliokastritsa on Corfu Gets New Marina by GTP editing team 5 August 2022 written by GTP editing team 5 August 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 Photo source: corfu.gr Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias and Corfu Mayor Meropi Hydraiou inaugurated this week a new 103-berth marina at Alypa in Paliokastritsa. “The project will bring added value to the cosmopolitan area of Paleokastritsa and especially to the small port of Alypa,” said Kikilias, referring to the importance of tourism for the popular island of Corfu. The minister said ensuring tourists continue to visit Greece throughout the year was a key ministry and government priority with actions that were bringing in results and supporting local economies. “The increase in tourist traffic offers benefits to the island’s economy, the primary sector, the commercial world and the island’s restaurants,” he said. Photo source: corfu.gr Indicatively, the number of arrivals to Corfu in July increased by 19.7 percent over the same month in 2019 despite the global challenges, said Kikilias, who was accompanied by the Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development Olympia Anastasopoulou. Today, a crucial project for Corfu was completed. An infrastructure project worthy of the region which upgrades the tourist product through the provision of high quality services and boosts local incomes, said Mayor Hydraiou. Corfu aims with the operation of the Alypa, Benitsa, and Gouvia marinas to become a hub with the most organized berthing facilities for recreational vessels, Hydraiou added.
