DESCRIPTION:The 8th “Corfu Old Town Trail” will be held on Saturday\, 24th of September\, 2022 jointly organized by the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Corfu Mountain Trail Organising Team. \nCorfu Old Town Trail is a city trail that takes place every year at the end of the tourist season (September-October) at a distance of 14km and 7km\, passing through both fortresses of Corfu\, as well as the two palaces\, Asian Art and Mon Repo. \nThe starting point and the finish line are both at the Liston\, a trademark of the historic city center. A 6\,5km walking route is also available for those who want to participate and support with their presence the event. \nApart from the stunning venue of the Corfu Old Town Trail\, there will also be local traditional surprises in 20 different spots of the route with a lot of fun\, music\, Corfiot tradition and culture.

SUMMARY:The Authentic Marathon Swim 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Authentic Marathon Swim race comes 2\,500 years later\, at the place where it started\, in Artemision. The authentic marathon swimming route performed by Skyllias together with his daughter Hydna revives by uniting the legend with history. \nThe great historic sporting event includes 10km\, 3km\, 1\,5km and an 800m swimming race for kids to be held on July 1-3\, 2022\, at Pefki\, Evia in the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos. \nThe event prioritizing the absolute safety of its athletes\, will provide everyone with a high-quality safety lifeguard buoy\, giving them an extra motive to choose The Authentic Swimming Marathon. The swimming route will be held at the straits of Artemision where the average water temperature is between 23-26 degrees Celsius. Specialized lifeguards and lifeboats will contribute to the safety of the race. Different categories will be formed for swimmers depending on the total number of participants\, while a separate category will be formed for those wearing wetsuits in the 3km and 1.5 categories. The event offers race timing for all swimmers. The Authentic Marathon Swim will be held with the approval of the Hellenic Swimming Federation\, according to FINA regulations. \nThe noteworthy event will be honored by the presence of the silver Olympic medalist\, world champion in open water swimming and member of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame\, Spyros Gianniotis. According to Herodotus\, the story of Skyllias and Hydna explains that in 480 B.C. they were arrested by Persians and boarded onto their ships\, as the Persians wanted to use the pair of proficient divers for an extensive exploration of underwater treasures from shipwrecks of that time and age. Subsequently\, the historical swimmers realized that Persians planned on using them in an upcoming naval combat in Artemision\, meaning that Skyllias and Hydna would have to face their Greek compatriots. The Ancient-Greek heroes jumped into the sea\, sliced the ropes from the anchors of Persian ships and started swimming towards Artemision in order to inform the Greek Naval Forces. The historical achievements of Skyllias and Hydna have been recorded from Herodotus\, “The Father of History”\, who has praised them for their unique swimming ability and the importance of the information they offered to the Greeks\, allowing the Naval Forces to prepare for their upcoming Battle of Salamis and their eventual triumph. DESCRIPTION:Πρόκειται για τον πρώτα ιστορικά ημιμαραθώνιο της Αθήνας\, ο οποίος μετά από δύο χρόνια απουσίας λόγω των μέτρων για τον περιορισμό της πανδημίας\, επιστρέφει την Κυριακή 17 Απριλίου 2022 στον Φαληρικό Όρμο. \nΤο φετινό αγωνιστικό πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνει πέντε διαφορετικούς αγώνες με μικρές\, μεσαίες και μεγάλες αποστάσεις. \nΤο βασικό αγώνισμα της ημέρας είναι ο Ημιμαραθώνιος των 21\,1 χλμ ενώ παράλληλα διεξάγεται στην ίδια διαδρομή και ο Αγώνας Δρόμου Τέταρτο (1/4) Mαραθωνίου\, σε μια απόσταση 10\,5 χλμ.  Υπάρχει ακόμα ο Αγώνα Δρόμου Novo Nordisk μήκους 5 χλμ και ο αγώνας Δυναμικού Βαδίσματος Novo Nordisk 5 χλμ. Τέλος θα πραγματοποιηθεί κι Αγώνας Κοινωνικής Προσφοράς\, 1.000 ή 2.000 μέτρων για την ενίσχυση του Πανελλήνιου Σύλλογου Προσαρμοσμένων Δραστηριοτήτων «ΑΛΜΑ»\, για παιδιά με νοητική υστέρηση και αυτισμό. \nΑφετηρία και τερματισμός του ημιμαραθωνίου και των παράλληλων αγώνων είναι το Πολιτιστικό και Αθλητικό Κέντρο του Δήμου Παλαιού Φαλήρου. Οι διαδρομές είναι χαραγμένες δίπλα στη θάλασσα\, στη Λεωφόρο Ποσειδώνος έως το ύψος της Λεωφόρου Αμφιθέας και διατρέχουν σημαντικά τοπόσημα της περιοχής όπως η Μαρίνα του Φλοίσβου\, το Κέντρο Πολιτισμού Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος και το Θωρηκτό Αβέρωφ. \nΦέτος η διοργάνωση εξασφάλισε επίσημη μέτρηση των διαδρομών του ημιμαραθωνίου και των 5 χλμ\, πιστοποιημένη από την WA/AIMS. Οι εγγραφές είναι διαθέσιμες στην ιστοσελίδα www.poseidon-athenshalfmarathon.com. \nΛόγω των περιοριστικών μέτρων\, δικαίωμα συμμετοχής έχουν οι δρομείς που έχουν εμβολιαστεί πλήρως έναντι της νόσου COVID-19 καθώς και όσοι έχουν νοσήσει έως και 15 ημέρες πριν την παραλαβή του υλικού συμμετοχής. Χολαργού\, με τη στήριξη τοπικών αθλητικών συλλόγων και εθελοντικών φορέων\, διοργανώνουν τον 6ο Αγώνα Δρόμου Πόλης Παπάγου – Χολαργού “Τρέχουμε για τον αυτισμό” την Κυριακή 3 Απριλίου το πρωί\, μια ημέρα μετά την παγκόσμια ημέρα αυτισμού που γιορτάζεται παγκοσμίως κάθε χρόνο στις 2 Απριλίου. \nΗ φετινή διοργάνωση στους δρόμους του Δήμου Παπάγου – Χολαργού είναι αφιερωμένη στον αυτισμό και κυρίως στην ευαισθητοποίηση του κοινού για τις ανάγκες των ατόμων που βρίσκονται στο φάσμα του αυτισμού καθώς και τη συμβολή στην αποδοχή και ενσωμάτωσή τους στην κοινωνία. \nΣτη διάρκεια της διοργάνωσης θα πραγματοποιηθούν ομιλίες από έμπειρους και ειδικευμένους επαγγελματίες αναφορικά με το φάσμα του αυτισμού καθώς και άλλες αθλητικές και πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις. Στο κλείσιμο της διοργάνωσης θα καλεστούν όλοι οι παρευρισκόμενοι να αφήσουν το στίγμα τους\, σαν ένδειξη συμπαράστασης\, την παλάμη τους\, σε ένα μεγάλο μουσαμά με τα χρώματα του αυτισμού. Όλα τα έσοδα της διοργάνωσης θα διατεθούν για την κάλυψη των λειτουργικών εξόδων των τμημάτων μπάσκετ “Champs” του ΚΟ Χολαργού\, με παιδιά που βρίσκονται στο φάσμα του αυτισμού. \nΤο βασικό γεγονός της διοργάνωσης θα αποτελέσουν οι αγώνες δρόμου αποστάσεων 5 και 10χλμ που θα πραγματοποιηθούν το πρωί της Κυριακής 3 Απριλίου 2022\, με εκκίνηση στις 10:15 από το Δημαρχείο Παπάγου – Χολαργού (Λεωφ. DESCRIPTION:The Greek rebellion against the Ottoman Empire\, 200 years ago\, marked the end of slavery\, reclaiming the most valuable asset for Greeks\, their freedom. Historical battles of the national liberation efforts took place in the Messinian land and decisive naval battles effectively sealed the end of the Revolution and led to the freedom of Greece\, resulting in the national rebirth and the establishment of the modern Greek state. \nRun Messinia is an ultramarathon race of a total distance of approximately 421 kilometers\, a tribute to the important events and unforgettable battles of the heroes of 1821. On October 2-11\, 2021\, during the “Run for Freedom” edition\, 10 athletes per route will attempt to run 10 marathons in total\, in 10 consecutive days\, crossing historical places and monuments of Messinia\, Laconia and Arcadia\, which are related to the Greek revolution. \nRun Messinia is committed to never forgetting all those sacrificed during the Revolution of 1821 and promises to spread the stories of heroes who honored and defended the right of all people to live with dignity in a fair and peaceful world. \nThe 10 historical routes of Run for Freedom\nThe Messinian land constitutes a special and historic place for the Greek Revolution of 1821. For this reason\, the event aims to highlight the history of all the areas associated with the Greek Revolution in Messinia both culturally and touristically. \nRun for Freedom will start its 1st route from Areopoli of the East Mani Municipality\, pass through Stoupa of the West Mani Municipality and end in Kardamyli. The 2nd route\, starting from Kardamyli\, will pass through Verga of the Kalamata Municipality and end in the city of Kalamata. In the 3rd route\, the athletes starting from Kalamata will cross Nedousa and finish in Alagonia. During the 4th route of Run Messinia\, the runners starting from Alagonia will pass through Dyrachio and Neochori of the Megalopoli Municipality and complete their effort in Poliani of the Kalamata Municipality. From Poliani\, during the 5th route\, participants will cross Skala and end up in Paloukorahi of the Oichalia Municipality.  \nThe 6th route will highlight historical places of the Oichalia Municipality\, as the athletes starting from Paloukorahi will cross Katsarou\, Solaki\, Meropi\, Loutro\, Diavolitsi\, Ano Psari\, Dorio and end up at the statue of Kolokotronis in Ramovouni. \nIn the 7th route starting from Ramovouni\, the runners will pass through Zerbisia of the Messini Municipality\, Kalogeresi\, Saint Nikitas Sellas and Tripyla of the Trifylia Municipality\, in order to reach Maniaki of the Pylos-Nestor Municipality. In the 8th route the participants will start from Maniaki\, pass through Agios Andreas of the Messini Municipality and Kato Minagia and finish in Koroni. The 9th route will move exclusively within the Pylos-Nestor Municipality from Koroni\, to Methoni and then to Pylos. DESCRIPTION:The preparations for the Authentic Marathon Swim continue with an undiminished pace\, as the historic event will take place for the 2nd consecutive year\, on July 2-4\, 2021\, at Pefki\, in Evia\, Greece in the Municipality of Istiaia – Edipsos. \nAmateur and professional swimmers from Greece and abroad will visit North Evia again this year to discover the cultural and natural wealth of the region and to become part of history\, in the birthplace of marathon swimming. Participants will swim with safety in the impressive 10km route (over the shipwrecks of the Naval Battle of Artemision that took place in 480 B.C.)\, the 3km\, the 1.5km as well as the new and unique 5km route. Respectively\, the younger fans of the sea will have the opportunity to test their swimming skills in the 800m children’s race. The 5km\, 3km\, 1.5km and 800m. routes will have Pefki beach as their starting and finishing point. \n The event will be held in accordance with FINA regulations and the health protocol to be established by the organizers\, based on the instructions of the special scientists-collaborators and the recommendations of the Greek General Secretariat of Sports’ Health Scientific Committee\, in order to ensure the health of athletes and attendees. \nThe Authentic Marathon Swim will be held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization. In particular\, the 10 km route is designed for the experienced runners and the 15 km route\, named “Aristides Alafouzos” for those who love power\, stamina\, technique and adrenaline. \nAll routes start from the desalination plant in Oia\, including parts of trail track\, and finish in Oia. The routes of Santorini Experience have been designed on the enchanting path that connects Oia with Fira\, featuring breathtaking views. Runners will discover the totally white\, majestic settlements built on the edge of the Caldera\, with the picturesque cobbled streets and the impressive churches. Athletes will run at a maximum altitude of 334 meters above sea level\, with a wonderful view of the clear blue waters of the Aegean and the islet of Nea Kameni while they will find themselves only a breath away from the sky. The exciting routes are designed by the former marathon runner\, Greek classic route record holder\, running trainer and director of All About Running\, Nikos Polias. \nOpen water swimming\, as always\, takes place at the last day of the event\, Sunday October 4\, and includes the 1\,5 mile (2\,4 km) race. Participants will have the opportunity to swim from the volcano to the old port of Fira. The Authentic’ will be held on November 10\, 2019 by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) with the support & sponsorship of the state as well as the private sector. \nThe Athens Marathon\, an event with 122 years of history\, has managed to increase participation from 4\,000 runners in 2005 to more than 43\,000 in 2016.
