SUMMARY:Amorgos Tourism Film Festival 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is an annual 4-day event\, with every day screenings\, held during the works of the YPERIA International Convention on Culture and Tourism. \nAs of 2017\, the Amorgos Festival is a member of the international organization CIFFT\, based in Vienna. The festival has daily projections during the Yperia Conference\, at Aegialis Hotel & Spa. Each year\, it awards the best choices of documentaries\, and travel films\, that contribute to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and to the implementation of green practices. \nThe Festival’s main intention is to set up an international platform with a view to encouraging global tourism through audio-visual media. Every year\, the best films\, documentaries and activities that contribute to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and the implementation of green practices\, are nominated for an award. Tourism films are a good opportunity to address important issues and highlight the cultural and environmental richness of a place. \nFor the 4th year the Festival hosts the tribute “Youth & Employment\, Women &  Employment” is implemented through the Operational Program & Human Resources Development\, Education and Lifelong Learning and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek state. Its co-funded projects deal mostly with the improvement of education and employment in Greece. Its main targets relate to the development and promotion of human resources skills\, activities against unemployment\, strengthen social cohesion and social inclusion of vulnerable social groups\, improvement of the quality of education & lifelong learning\, awareness on environmental education\, linking education with the labor market. The film tribute has free admission and it’s accessible to disabled people. \nThe Festival aims:\n– To contribute to the development of domestic (particularly on Amorgos and the Cyclades islands) and foreign tourism.\n– To popularize and encourage the implementation of green practices in tourism driven by the need for social responsibility and sustainable development.\n– To encourage short film production and foster a spirit of friendship and cooperation among producers from around the world. \nEvery year the Festival awards the best tourism films and documentaries\, selected by an international jury team. \nThe festival is organized by the Cultural Association of Women of Amorgos in cooperation with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region. \nEntries are already opened until 20th of August 2019 via festival’s official web page and film freeway platform and the submission of Greek production is free of charge. SUMMARY:Athens Photo World 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Athens Photo World\, a cultural event centred on photojournalism and its protagonists\, is presented for the very first time during 7-16 June 2019 by  Thanassis Stavrakis and his partners\, courtesy of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. \nLocals and visitors of Athens will come “face to face” with the global reality of the planet through the gaze and the work of experienced and recognised photographers. Furthermore\, the first Athens Photo World honours with its exhibitions and events photojournalist Yannis Behrakis\, focusing on his longstanding\, rich and award-winning work and his significant contribution to both Greek and international photojournalism. \nThe event aims to showcase the work of photojournalists and their contribution to shaping the image of our world and documenting moments of history in the making\, in times of political and social upheaval and reclassification. At the same time\, an intended purpose is to showcase Athens as the meeting point of photographers at a time of rapid transmission of images\, news and developments. \nThe arrow head of Athens Photo World will be the annual honouree\, a prestigious photojournalist\, whose work will be presented to the SNFCC with parallel events\, discussions with selected guests and direct interaction with the public. \nAt the same time\, the World Press Photo Exhibition for 2019 will be presented at the SNFCC. The Greek capital for the next three years will be the first stop of the world’s most important photo exhibition. Meanwhile\, in key areas of the centre of Athens will be exhibited a series of selected photos of the Associated Press agency as well as the photos of important and acclaimed Greek photographers . \nCheck here the program in details.
