DESCRIPTION:El Cuor No Se Vende (Heart isn’t for sale) is the moto that inspired Didier Guillon\, President and Artistic Director of the Valmont Group\, for his second exhibition at the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra\, which will be held from July 1st to August 31st. \nFrom a very young age\, Didier Guillon discovered art and its subtleties\, became an collector of contemporary art\, guided only by his passion\, talent and inspiration. His philosophy and approach to art through his heart\, turn today in a genuine manifesto against speculation and rampant mercantilism\, in a real art exhibition. \nThe “El Cuor No Se Vende” exhibition is a pure\, ethical and aesthetic approach of art meeting the beauty to highlight as unique stars the elegance and the freedom. \nThe art works to be displayed down at the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra\, were not subjected to the selection of this last quarter of the century’s artistic production\, a process that is so usually cherished it’s become mundane. \nVisitors are invited to go and discover new talents such as Isao Llorens\, Quentin Garel\, Lee Jung Woong and Yves Bélorgey. These artists’ works all conquered the heart of the exhibition’s curator\, as they bear no speculation and seem to all be all united by a common thread. A thread made out of creative ethics\, a true conspicuous comeback to craftmanship in the artistic work\, and a certain sense of contempt for any need of a creative justification. \n

DESCRIPTION:On 3 September 2016\, Chronosystems\, in cooperation with Life Racing and with the support of Syros Runners and the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli\, will organize the “Syros City Trail”\, the 2nd city trail running race in Syros and an important athletic event for the island. \nParticipants can choose one of three routes: A 10k route for experienced athletes\, a 4k route for new runners and a 1k route for kids. The aim is to promote the historical and cultural heritage of Ermoupoli\, the island’s capital\, via a running and walking event. \n10km race\nThe length of the longer route is 10km with elevation of 320m. 95% of the terrain consists of stone paved alleys and steps and 5% of asphalt. The start time is at 6:00 pm in the Town Hall Square. \n4km race\nThe length of the shorter route is 4km with elevation of 110m. 98% of the terrain consists of stone paved alleys and steps and 2% of asphalt. The start time is at 6:00 pm in the Town Hall Square. \n1km race (Kid’s race)\nThe length of the children’s route is 1km with elevation of 16m. 98% of the terrain consists of stone paved alleys and steps and 2% of asphalt. DESCRIPTION:The Aegina Fistiki Fest will take place for the 8th consecutive year on 15-18 September 2016\, organised by the Municipality of Aegina in collaboration with local producers. This year is a double fest for the island as it is the 100 anniversary from birth date of the renowned Greek painter Yiannis Moralis. \nWith “Sweet Pistachio” Aegina welcome the visitors to this year’s festival. It is a theatrical presentation which will take you back in time to the 1960s\, creating a vintage atmosphere along with the orchestra of traditional instruments and local dance groups. \nApart from the trade exhibition along the coastline of Aegina’s town\, the Aegina Fistiki Fest includes gastronomy events\, creative activities\, workshops for children\, concerts\, seminars etc. \nThe fest is dedicated to the internationally known Pistachio (Fistiki) of Aegina Island (a Protected Designation of Origin product) with its unique taste and quality. DESCRIPTION:The 7th Athens Bike Festival will be held on 16-18 September 2016 in Technopolis\, Athens. \nFollowing the successful organisation of the previous four Bike Festivals\, it became evident that Athens is a city with a growing cycling culture and that an annual cycling festival in the heart of the city is a must for the increasing number of cyclists. \nIn 2015\, more than 35\,000 visitors were counted at the three gates of Technopolis during the three day celebration – no one can doubt any more that there is an increasing interest for bicycles and cycling in the city. \nThe event is organised during the European Mobility Week – an awareness raising campaign aiming at sensibilising citizens to the use of public transport\, cycling\, walking and at encouraging European cities to promote these modes of transport.

DESCRIPTION:Spartathlon is a historic ultra-distance foot race that takes place in September of every year in Greece. It is one of the most difficult and satisfying ultra-distance races in the world because of its unique history and background. \nOn Friday 30 September at 7 am 400 athletes from 52 countries will begin under the sacred rock of Acropolis towards the King Leonidas statue in Sparti. Lengthwise the 246km route there are 75 check points which will provide athletes with water\, food and whatever assistance they will need. Check here the road race in details. \nThe Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides\, an ancient Athenian long distance runner\, who in 490 BC\, before the battle of Marathon\, was sent to Sparti to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians. According to the ancient Greek historian Herodotus\, Pheidippides arrived in Sparta the day after his departure from Athens. \nInspired by the report of the Greek historian\, in 1982 five officers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF)\, who were also long-distance runners\, traveled to Greece and ascertained by themselves that it was possible to cover the 250 kilometers separating the two towns in one and a half days. \nThe Interanational Spartathlon Association\, established in 1984\, organizes every September the Spartathlon race. The month choose was because Herodotus placed in that month the mission of Pheidippides to Sparti.

DESCRIPTION:Andros Trail Race\, that will take place on October 2\, 2016 at Andros island\, is the biggest sport event of the year for the island and the Cyclades in general\, attracting participation of renowned athletes and mountain running fans from around the world. Andros Trail Race is part of the 1st mountain racing championship of the Cyclades aka Cyclades Trail Cup\, which is consisted of 3 races in islands of Tinos\, Syros and Andros -one on each island- and aspires to include races of all the Cycladic Islands creating a large Cycladic sports event. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to choose between two routes\, the 22km Great route making the race the most challenging and demanding in the Greek islands and the 10km Small route as an introduction to mountain running. \nOrganizers aim to highlight the natural landscape of Andros\, with emphasis in the mountainous mainland and the hiking paths\, establishing the island as a center of alternative tourism and sports\, and the meeting point of Greek and foreign athletes in a great sports celebration! \nIn the same context\, the selection of routes was based on the natural beauty of the island and the hiking trails\, the importance of the interest points and the technical challenges\, which are similar to major mountain running race events. The athletes will be rewarded for their efforts\, running through nature’s and man’s amazing “creations” such as old tracks\, cobbled old streets\, Venetian pathways and certified hiking trails\, high mountains\, ravines and streams\, small oak forests\, fountains\, water mills\, stone bridges\, traditional villages\, Monasteries and medieval Castles. \nKorthi Bay central square will be the base and starting point of both routes for Andros Trail Race 2016. \nThe 22km Route starting from Korthi Bay central square is directed to the area of Paleokastro and the traditional settlements of Lardia\, Giannisaio (Stavros) and Messa Vouni\, crossing through the Monastery of Panachrantos and towards Vrakhnou settlement. Before reaching Vrakhnou\, the route turns and climbs the slope of Gerakona Mount. until outside Exo Vouni settlement where it meets the asphalt at the entrance of the Dipotamata gorge\, then the stone arch bridge\, the old watermills and the medieval path. From this point the athletes go up to the Epano Kastro (Upper Castle) through the old Castle gate crossing it and continuing to the village Kochylos “hanging” on the hillside\, finally returning to Korthi Bay. \nThe 10 km Route of the race\, starting from Korthi Bay central square\, is initially directed towards the valley of Korthi\, then turning to Kato Khones settlement and it’s beautiful fountain\, continuing alongside the valley and viewing traditional dovecotes\, threshing floors and cottages\, crossing Alamania settlement\, and uphill to Episkopeio settlement\, by the chapel of the Prophet Elias\, the ruins of windmills and a unique mill called “Tavlomillos” found only on Andros. The path is directed towards the picturesque stone bridge and a watermill in Episkopeio (famous from the film “Little England”). Then the route continues through Episkopeio to Lardia (Paleokastro) settlement and returns to Korthi Bay. \nEntries and preparations for the 1st mountain running race on Andros have already begun!
