DESCRIPTION:The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)\, the Ministry of Tourism of Greece and the Region of Central Macedonia have partnered together to organize the 8th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism in Thessaloniki\, Greece on 10-12 October 2018. \nFollowing the success of the previous two editions in Dunhuang (2013) and Xi’an (2015) in China\, this international Silk Road meeting will be hosted for the very first time by a European Silk Road Member State\, and focus on the overarching role and relevance of the Silk Road within a globalized tourism framework. \nTo count upon the participation of Silk Road Member States\, UNWTO Affiliate Members and international partner agencies\, interested stakeholders from around the globe\, both public and private\, are invited to attend an event that will count upon a ministerial roundtable and specialized sessions focused on assessing the role and relevance of the historic Silk Road routes within a globalized setting. \nTogether with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)\, a joint session assessing the Silk Road’s role in bridging Europe with Asia will take place\, after which a B2B session aimed at strengthening business ties between European and Asian stakeholders will be held during the second day of the event. Primarily focused on tourism partnerships\, but open to all business sectors\, stakeholders interested in exploring the vast opportunities of trans-continental exchange are encouraged to make the most of this networking opportunity. DESCRIPTION:This year’s event will take place on 12-14 October 2018\, in Messinia and Costa Navarino\, anticipating hundreds of professional and amateur athletes\, who will take part in its numerous activities. \nThe multi-awarded sports tourism event\, that promotes sports and fair play as its main goal\, will be\, once again\, full of activities for all ages. Navarino Challenge\, with the most Olympic athletes ever participating as ambassadors in a sports event\, returns again to Messinia\, including more than 20 sports activities (12 Olympic sports). Running\, swimming\, SUP\, as well as the successful recipe of Tae Kwon Do (with two-times silver Olympic medalist\, Alexandros Nikolaidis)\, being examples of the sports featured. \nRunning routes\nParticipants will be able to choose between the Half-Marathon (21\,1km)\, 10km and 5km (running and dynamic walking). Starting from Navarino Dunes of Costa Navarino\, professional and amateur athletes will run along the coast to Pylos crossing the beautiful Voidokilia beach in the unique trail run that combines soil\, sand and street parts. At the same day\, respectively\, the 1km kids running race will be held. Start and finish of each race will be the same. The routes are designed by ex-marathon runner\, holder of the best classic route record in Greece\, trainer and director of All About Running\, Nikos Polias. All participants will be timed. \nOpen water swimming race\nThe fans of open water swimming will compete and be timed for the first time ever at the beautiful Navarino Bay\, at the port of Pylos\, covering the 1 mile (1.6km) special swimming route\, designed by the Federal Swimming Coach\, Nikos Gemelos. \nStand Up Paddling race\nRight after swimming and for the third consecutive year\, the Stand Up Paddling by BIC® Sport relay race will be held. At the port of Pylos\, Navarino Challenge presents the innovative sport of Stand Up Paddling (SUP)\, that has become highly popular around the world. The race is supported by the surf club\, Surf Salad. \nThe registration for the multi-awarded sports tourism event is open and those interested can participate\, filling the special form\, available here. DESCRIPTION:The YPERIA International Convention on Tourism and Culture will be held during 31 October – 5 November 2018 on Amorgos island\, for the 16th consecutive year. \nThe Convention aims to promote the natural beauty and culture of Amorgos\, foster an exchange of ideas on cultural heritage preservation\, as well as present and promote current projects on the island of Amorgos. \nJust like every year\, YPERIA is expecting a great number of participants: journalists\, filmmakers\, producers\, photographers/reporters and tour operators. \nThis year the theme of the convention is “Gastronomy – Culture & Tourism”\, as a tribute to the South Aegean Region as the Gastronomy Region of Europe 2019. \nRepresentatives of Women’s Associations in the Cyclades and the Municipalities of  South Aegean Region will present their products\, their local flavors and dishes. \nThe 9th Amorgos Tourism Film Festival will take place within the frame of YPERIA. \nThe convention will be held in English and is organized by the Cultural Association of Women of Amorgos in cooperation with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region. \nCheck here the convention’s program.

DESCRIPTION:The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is an annual 4-day event\, with every day screenings\, held during the works of the YPERIA International Convention on Culture and Tourism. \nAs of 2017\, the Amorgos Festival is a member of the international organization CIFFT\, based in Vienna. The festival has daily projections during the Yperia Conference\, at Aegialis Hotel & Spa. Each year\, it awards the best choices of documentaries\, and travel films\, that contribute to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and to the implementation of green practices. \nThe Festival’s main intention is to set up an international platform with a view to encouraging global tourism through audio-visual media. Every year\, the best films\, documentaries and activities that contribute to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and the implementation of green practices\, are nominated for an award. Tourism films are a good opportunity to address important issues and highlight the cultural and environmental richness of a place. \nFor the 3rd year the Festival hosts the tribute “Youth & Employment\, Women &  Employment” is implemented through the Operational Program & Human Resources Development\, Education and Lifelong Learning and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek state. Its co-funded projects deal mostly with the improvement of education and employment in Greece. Its main targets relate to the development and promotion of human resources skills\, activities against unemployment\, strengthen social cohesion and social inclusion of vulnerable social groups\, improvement of the quality of education & lifelong learning\, awareness on environmental education\, linking education with the labor market. The film tribute has free admission and it’s accessible to disabled people. \nThe Festival aims:\n– To contribute to the development of domestic (particularly on Amorgos and the Cyclades islands) and foreign tourism.\n– To popularize and encourage the implementation of green practices in tourism driven by the need for social responsibility and sustainable development.\n– To encourage short film production and foster a spirit of friendship and cooperation among producers from around the world. \nIn the frame of the  9th  Amorgos Tourism Film Festival\, a Film Academy will be organized for students and young people. Their films will promote the local Cuisine\, Culture and spectacular beauty of the island. \nEvery year the Festival  awards the best tourism films and documentaries\, selected by an international jury team. \nThe festival is organized by the Cultural Association of Women of Amorgos in cooperation with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region.
