SUMMARY:Santorini Experience 2018
DESCRIPTION:As the registration is open\, the top and highly successful sports tourism event in Greece\, Santorini Experience\, takes place for the 4th consecutive year on the beautiful Cyclades island on October 5-7\, 2018. \nFor the first time Santorini Experience participants will get a special designed technical T-shirt of the event\, while at the same time they will receive even more gifts and surprises by the official sponsors. Specifically\, participation packages in running include bag\, t-shirt\, medal\, entry number and timing chip\, while in swimming\, bag\, t-shirt\, swimming cap\, medal\, tattooed entry number and timing chip. \nRegistration closes on August 31\, 2018. Register now here.\nFor running fans\, 3 different routes will take place on Saturday October 6\, with the unique images of the volcano as their setting\, overlooking the Caldera and passing through the settlements of Imerovigli\, Firostefani and Oia. In particular\, the 5 km route\, named “Aristides Alafouzos” as of last year\, deals with running and dynamic walking\, the 10 km route is designed for the experienced runners and the 15 km route for those who love power\, stamina\, technique and adrenaline. All routes start from the desalination plant in Oia\, including parts of trail track\, and finish in Oia. The running routes are designed by the former marathon runner\, Greek classic route record holder\, running trainer and director of All About Running\, Nikos Polias. \nOpen water swimming\, as always\, takes place at the last day of the event\, Sunday October 7\, and includes the 1\,5 mile (2\,4 km) race. Participants will have the opportunity to swim from the volcano to the old port of Fira. Organization will provide amateur athletes with a high-quality safety lifeguard buoy\, giving them extra motive to choose Santorini Experience. \nSwimming route will take place with the upmost safety in the enchanting sea of Santorini (average water temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius)\, under the technical direction of federal coach with Olympic and World Championship distinctions\, Nikos Gemelos\, who has designed this unique route. Once again\, specialized lifeguards of Lifeguard Patrol will contribute in safety measures\, providing staff as well as lifeboats. Distinguished age categories will be formed depending on the final participation entries\, while an extra classification for those wearing wetsuits will be added. \nBesides swimming and running\, more activities will be held\, such as the usual 1 km children’s race\, as well as Tae Kwon Do exhibition from the two times silver Olympic medalist\, Alexandros Nikolaidis. \nSantorini Experience is a co-organization of Municipality of Santorini\, DAPPOS and Active Media Group. SUMMARY:Navarino Challenge 2018
DESCRIPTION:This year’s event will take place on 12-14 October 2018\, in Messinia and Costa Navarino\, anticipating hundreds of professional and amateur athletes\, who will take part in its numerous activities. \nThe multi-awarded sports tourism event\, that promotes sports and fair play as its main goal\, will be\, once again\, full of activities for all ages. Navarino Challenge\, with the most Olympic athletes ever participating as ambassadors in a sports event\, returns again to Messinia\, including more than 20 sports activities (12 Olympic sports). Running\, swimming\, SUP\, as well as the successful recipe of Tae Kwon Do (with two-times silver Olympic medalist\, Alexandros Nikolaidis)\, being examples of the sports featured. \nRunning routes\nParticipants will be able to choose between the Half-Marathon (21\,1km)\, 10km and 5km (running and dynamic walking). Starting from Navarino Dunes of Costa Navarino\, professional and amateur athletes will run along the coast to Pylos crossing the beautiful Voidokilia beach in the unique trail run that combines soil\, sand and street parts. At the same day\, respectively\, the 1km kids running race will be held. Start and finish of each race will be the same. The routes are designed by ex-marathon runner\, holder of the best classic route record in Greece\, trainer and director of All About Running\, Nikos Polias. All participants will be timed. \nOpen water swimming race\nThe fans of open water swimming will compete and be timed for the first time ever at the beautiful Navarino Bay\, at the port of Pylos\, covering the 1 mile (1.6km) special swimming route\, designed by the Federal Swimming Coach\, Nikos Gemelos. \nStand Up Paddling race\nRight after swimming and for the third consecutive year\, the Stand Up Paddling by BIC® Sport relay race will be held. At the port of Pylos\, Navarino Challenge presents the innovative sport of Stand Up Paddling (SUP)\, that has become highly popular around the world. The race is supported by the surf club\, Surf Salad. \nThe registration for the multi-awarded sports tourism event is open and those interested can participate\, filling the special form\, available here. Pre-sale has begun online\, via telephone on 11876 as well as via the Viva network pre-sale points. Registration ends on August 31. \nAll the participants who will book their accommodation package at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and choose the standard activities (running\, swimming\, SUP) will be able to enjoy free of charge the event’s full activities schedule.
