Happenings Agritourism Summer Bazaar in Epidavros by Nikos Krinis 1 August 2008 written by Nikos Krinis 1 August 2008 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 The mayor of Epidavros, Nikos Georgas, announces the 10th Agritourism Summer Bazaar, which took place last month at Epidavros. Agrotouristiki and the Municipality of Epidavros last month organized a series of cultural events and exhibits for the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of agritourism activities in Epidavros. The summer bazaar, an annual event that began in 1998, took place at the port of Ancient Epidavros. It was once again organized within the framework of the popular Epidavros Festival, which takes place at the ancient theater and the “Musical July” events that are held at the small theater of Epidavros. Events included traditional music, dance performances and the chance to sample local and/or famous agricultural products at the bazaar. This year is a milestone for the traditional agritourism summer bazaar in Epidavros as it has completed 10 years of activities and has opened the way for the promotion of agritourism throughout Greece. Agritourism festivals are now held throughout Greece (Chios, Katerini, Florina, etc.) “With Epidavros in the lead over the past 10 years, rural tourism and agritourism was introduced not only as a new tourist product but also as a potential sector of regional development as a key force to revitalize local economies and societies,” said chairman and managing director of Agrotouristiki, Brigitta Papastavrou. The bazaar saw the presentation of local and unique local agritourism products associated with the development of rural tourism. Products from various parts of Greece were on display and for sale (agricultural products, handicrafts, ceramics, services that promote rural tourism, etc.).
