During the conference, an official of the management agency, Theodoros Papathanasiou, stressed the importance of the creation of a hiking route network as a tool to attract a steady number of visitors. He said that 19 paths of 100 kilometers have been created with an estimated walking time of 39 hours. The conference also analyzed the priorities and actions of the management agency on issues of protection, management and improvement of the environment and gave particular emphasis to the ecosystem of the protected area Karpathos-Sarias. The Mayor of Karpathos, Michalis Ioannidis, referred to the basic goal set by the management agency of Karpathos-Sarias, which is to protect the natural and architectural beauty of the region.
