According to figures from the Ministry of Merchant Marine, a total of 1,087,693 passengers traveled from the three major ports of Athens (Piraeus, Lavrion, Rafina) this past June. This resulted in a 9.03 percent increase compared with the corresponding month last year. As for July 2008, figures show opposite results as passenger traffic appears reduced during the first days of the month. Between 1-7 July a total of 337,400 passengers traveled from the ports, compared with 350,282 in the same period last year.
