The prefect of Kavala, Theodoros Kalliontzis, referred to his continuous efforts for a multi-thematic aquarium that will give the landlocked part of the prefecture a tourism boost for all-year-round visits. Mr. Kalliontzis also made reference to the recent completion of the new exhibition center, which has a fully equipped conference center. “This contributes highly to the development of conference tourism but also to the promotion of religious tourism, since within the region of Philippi the first Christian church in Europe was founded and the first European Christian was baptized.” The prefect also mentioned his intention for the promotion of therapeutical tourism through the prefecture’s hot water springs.
