Renowned Greek and international professionals of conference tourism are expected to honor the “5th Pan-Hellenic Conference for Business and Conference Tourism” organized by the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers (HAPCO).

The conference’s agenda will focus on “Strategies of Regional Development of Conference Tourism in Times of Depression,” while an emphasis will be given to the growth prospects of cooperation opportunities with Balkan countries (Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia). The conference will review topics that are relative to the current international financial crisis and its impact on tourism, with an emphasis on conference tourism.

The potential of conference tourism development within the Northern Greece regions will also be discussed, along with Thessaloniki’s role as a hub for conference and professional tourism to the Balkans.

During the conference a workshop will be held where the results of two studies, conducted on behalf of HAPCO, will be announced. A second scheduled workshop will focus on the design and technical support of conference facilities and events.

According to the conference agenda, representatives from organizations of Northern Greece and Balkan conference offices have been invited to present their views.

In addition, HAPCO will award the universities of Northern Greece for their active contribution for the organization of international conferences in Greece.

The conference is scheduled to take place on 6-7 March in Thessaloniki at the Grand Hotel Palace.
