Investors say that Atalanti Hills will contribute to the improvement of abandoned, non-coastal areas and be a role model for the agritourism development of Greece. A two-billion-euro tourism resort investment aimed to transform the area of Atalanti, Fthiotida, into a quality all-year-round destination was presented recently. Lokros, the company that has undertaken the development and management of the project, entitled Atalanti Hills, claimed that the tourism resort will mark a new direction for Greece’s tourism sector. “This is a project with environmental awareness and respect to the local society that will highlight the country’s traditions and culture,” said Yiorgos Savvidis, representative of Lokros. The Atalanti Hills project, scheduled to begin in a year, will cover 12,500 stremma and include three 5-star hotel units, 5,000 bungalows, three golf courses, a jockey club, a water park, a heliport and three tennis courts. Christopher Curtis, co-founder and principal of the project’s main investor, Europa Capital, explained that Atalanti Hills is one of the most important commitments the company has made in its investment program. “We believe this project has enormous potential as through Atalanti Hills Greece can become the most acclaimed golf destination in Europe,” said Mr. Curtis. According to the investors, Atalanti Hills will not impede on environmental issues since it is designed to respect the natural environment.
