The workshop, entitled “Google AdWords: Sell your rooms,” focused on measures that Greek hotel managers and tourism real estate companies should take in order to promote their companies via the Internet to increase sales. According to Google, the sector of Internet bookings for recreational and business purposes represents some 25 percent of the European tourism market and was valued at 59 billion euros in 2007. International research says that the value of Internet bookings will emerge in 2010 to 91 billion euros and form 35 percent of the total European travel market. As well, Google recently released results that showed a strong mobility of Greek Internet users who surfed the web for tourism purposes in February. Moreover, Google also recorded an increased search for airline tickets as well. Google’s Country Manager for Greece, Yiorgos Saliaris Fasseas, said that the Internet influences the decisions of consumers more than ever for tourism and travel.
