The 18.3-million euro upgrade projects of the port facilities of the Evia prefecture would have a very positive impact on transport, trade and tourism, the secretary general of Central Greece’s prefecture, Pantelis Sklias, said recently.

The project is part of the National Strategic Reference Framework (ESPA) for the funding of “Infrastructure and accessible services of Central Greece” of the “Regional Operational Program 2007-2013.”

According to Mr. Sklias, the projects foresee the improvement and expansion of the windward pier at Karystos Port, budgeted at 3.3 million euros; the improvement and expansion of Mantoudi Port, budget 8.1 million euros; and the modification and modernization of Kymi Port, budgeted at 6.9 million euros.

The general secretary also noted the planned upgrade of Marmari Port at a 6.5 million euro budget.
