Qatar Airways recently announced its second daily non-stop flight from Athens to Doha, which would gradually integrate into the existing flight schedule from Athens by March 2010. The announcement took place at a presentation of the company’s developments for 2009-2010 during the 25th Philoxenia exhibition in Thessaloniki. According to Alexandros Michalopoulos, Qatar Airways sales manager for Greece and Cyprus, as a result of the airline’s decision to invest in the Athens route, flight connections from Athens to more than 80 destinations worldwide, via Qatar Airways’ hub Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar, would be reinforced. Qatar Airways will offer additional connections to destinations such as China, Maldives, Bangkok and Bali, as well as Johannesburg and the Gulf Area.
