The video came second in the world (Second Star award) and first in Europe “for an outstanding contribution” at the 17th International Tourism Film and Multimedia competition “The Golden Citygate”. The video of South Africa came in first place and received the Diamond Award.

“This is a video that has made us all very proud. The GNTO has worked very hard for this new promotion of our country that aims to establishing Greece as a 365 days a year destination,” Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura told GTP Headlines.

Last September, Greece scooped the “Best Video in Europe” award at the UNWTO Tourism Video Competition 2017 with its “Greece – A 365-day Destination” production. The GNTO’s video also won a Special Award at the 6th Zagreb Tourfilm Festival.

“These awards are a recognition of the GNTO’s communication strategy and they also give us the strength to do even more and accomplish even more great things,” she said.

GNTO’s video, directed by Antonis Theocharis Koukas, aims to promote Greece as a year round destination, as part of the Tourism Ministry’s strategy to extend the tourism season.

“This video really captures the beauties of our homeland,” Minister Kountoura told GTP Headlines.

The Golden Citygate is an international multimedia competition for the tourism industry and offers a platform to present films and other multimedia contributions.
