The True Leader annual award is given to companies and groups that exhibited superior performance and progress the previous year. Minoan Lines received the title in the Sea Transport category for its successful performance in 2017. The company’s managing director, Antonis Maniadakis, received the prestigious award during the “True Leaders 2017” ceremony that took place at the Divani Caravel hotel in Athens on December 20 and was attended by some 300 senior executives of the Greek market and government representatives. “The distinction and selection of Minoan among the leading companies in the country is particularly important, both because of the institution’s prestige and because it is based on specific criteria and economic indicators,” the company said in an announcement. Minoan Lines received the award having met all four of ICAP’s objective and measurable criteria: – Ranked among the top 500 most profitable companies or the 200 most profitable groups based on EBITDA for 2015 – Ranked among the top 500 companies or 200 groups that have increased their employee base from 2016 to 2017 – Ranked among the top companies in their sector (based on turnover) – Have a high ICAP Credit Score Only 61 companies and 9 corporate groups met ICAP Group’s standards for inclusion on the True Leaders list and succeeded in achieving the distinction for the year 2017. ICAP had examined a total of 15,000 companies in Greece. Nikitas Konstantellos, chairman and CEO in ICAP Group, said that the honored companies had covered multiple and difficult criteria against the generally unfavorable economic environment for Greece’s economy. “The winners signify success and represent the hope for the development of both our national economy and our country,” Konstantellos said. ICAP Group is the only company recognized as a Credit Rating Agency by the SEC and by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
