Wyndham Hotels & Resorts recently recruited Dimitris Vlachopanos as the new Director of Development for South Eastern Mediterranean. In his new position, Dimitris will be responsible for the development of Wyndham’s trademark brands in the region, mainly focusing on preparing for the opening of new hotels and promoting the brands in the Southeastern Mediterranean. He will be based in Greece. Prior to joining Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in February 2019, he served various General Manager positions for international hotel brands, including Sophos Hotels SA, a Switzerland Management Company including a wide portfolio of brands, such as Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Dimitris started his career in the hospitality industry at IHG Crowne Plaza Frankfurt Am Main, and lived in Germany for several years before moving to Greece. He speaks Greek, German and English and holds a bachelor degree from Hotel Management Academy, Germany and certified in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management, a program established by Cornell University in the U.S. Dimitris is currently General Delegate for Greece at AMFORHT, the World Association for Hospitality and Tourism Education Training affiliated with UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). In 2016, he was also Vice Chairman of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan.
