Launched in 2017, We Love Aegina is a bilingual and comprehensive online guide focused on the island of Aegina in the Saronic Gulf. Aiming to highlight the island’s beauty and promote it as a travel destination, the website offers personalized suggestions to travelers and visitors through the use of specially categorized search filters. The website currently offers 700 pages of original content of text and photos. According to an announcement, the online guide has already succeeded in attracting some 10 times the number of visitors it did in 2017. Elina Argyri, the owner and editor, expects pageviews per month to surpass last year’s 5-digit number by this summer period. “We Love Aegina was created in the summer of 2017 out of pure love for the island. Being recognized by the market’s big players is important, but what gives us great satisfaction is that travelers prefer us and this shows by the steadily growing numbers of the website,” Argyri said, adding that upgrades regarding the website will be announced soon. One development is that We Love Aegina has added search and reservation engines for accommodation on Aegina, aiming to provide the necessary services to travelers interested in visiting the island. Moreover, We Love Aegina has also made its first strategic partnership with nou-pou.gr, an online guide that focuses and provides information on the southern suburbs of Athens. “This is a mutually beneficial alliance that will give strength and credibility to both websites, through the expansion of their content to the benefit of the audiences to whom they are addressed to,” Argyri added. Aegina is located in the middle of the Saronic Gulf and one of the closest islands to Athens and has been a classic weekend destination for Athenians and foreign travelers over the decades.
