Located on the hotel’s 8th floor, it has been ranked by TripAdvisor as the restaurant with the 4th best rooftop view in the world. Following extensive renovation, the restaurant now features a new roof made of modern ecofriendly and weather resistant materials, offering better insulation in both warm and cold weather. Furthermore, new glass features have been added to form a terrace-like setup in the restaurant’s interior. “With the new glass partitions, the inner seating area offers the same unobstructed view to the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus, as an open- air terrace… It creates the feeling that you are actually on a terrace even if you are sitting inside,” the hotel’s manager Yiannis Adamantopoulos told GTP Headlines. The restaurant’s renovation is part of a wider investment project that includes the partial revamp of the hotel’s public areas and some room types. The Athens Gate Hotel will also install new A/C units in all areas and proceed with additions to the building’s security and safety systems. ‘A good year for Athens as city break destination’ The Athens Gate Hotel is located near the historic district of Plaka, opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus, 500 meters from the Acropolis and 100 meters from the Acropolis Museum. It attracts business and city break travelers year round due to its proximity to Athens’ city center. It also offers easy access to the Athens International Airport and the port of Piraeus.
