Company updates Athens’ Stanley Hotel Sets Example, Steps in as Shelter Under Greek Covid-19 Plan by Maria Paravantes 8 April 2020 written by Maria Paravantes 8 April 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 15 The four-star The Stanley hotel, located in the center of Athens, was temporarily being used by the Greek Civil Protection Ministry for incoming travelers to Greece to stay there for a period of 14 days for quarantine reasons. The hotel had already been offering its rooms and services since mid-March for self-isolation purposes. The government requisitioned the hotel, located in the central Metaxourgeio neighborhood, to use it as an emergency space as part of its national action plan to contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19). “The hotel facility is being made available to the public for the purpose of meeting public health needs, in particular the temporary housing and the accompanying food and sanitation needs of natural persons entering Greek territory from Covid-19 high risk countries as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus,” the decision in the Government Gazette had read. “The historic hotel, The Stanley, management and our heroes, our employees, felt it was our obligation to respond to the tourism ministry’s call to participate in the well-organized plan for the safe return of Greek nationals,” The Stanley management told GTP Headlines. “In these difficult times for our country and the world – following the guidelines set out by the Citizens Protection Ministry and the National Public Health Organization (EODY) – we hosted and served at our hotel our people, the Greeks living abroad. We were by their side for the 14-day required self-isolation and right now they have returned to their families and loved ones.” The Stanley Hotel had already planned and conducted a fully certified Covid-19 sanitization in its premises assuring all health and safety measures were taken.
