Ryanair: Athens is Open to Holidaymakers from June 15 – Video

Irish low cost carrier Ryanair on Tuesday posted a video about Athens on Twitter, promoting the Greek capital as an ideal destination this summer.

The carrier gives its followers “a glimpse of the ancient wonders” and says “Athens is open to holidaymakers from June 15.

In the video, titled “Try somewhere new – Athens”, Ryanair gives its followers a quick tour of Athens’ hotspots, in cluding Psiri, the Acropolis, Plaka, the Acropolis Museum, Anafiotika,Lycabettus mountain and also suggests places to wine & dine and stay in the city.

Ryanair to operate 40% of July flight schedule

Moreover, on Tuesday, Ryanair confirmed it plans to operate 40 percent of its normal July flight schedule, following announcements by Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Greece*, and Portugal to reopen their hotels and beaches, following lockdowns due to Covid-19, for the key July-August family holiday season.

“After 4 months of lockdown, we welcome these moves by governments in Italy, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus to open their borders, remove travel restrictions and scrap ineffective quarantines,” Ryanair’s CEO Eddie Wilson said.

The carrier will be offering daily flights from countries all over Northern Europe including Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Germany to key holiday airports of Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Cyprus from July 1.

According to Wilson, all Ryanair flights will operate with new health guidelines in place, which will require all passengers (and Ryanair crews) to wear face masks at all times in the airport terminals and on board our aircraft, in compliance with EU guidelines.

* According to the Greek government’s recent announcements, Athens and Thessaloniki will be open for travelers (from select countries) from June 15. Travel to the Greek islands and other destinations will be allowed from July 1
