Greek Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias on Tuesday announced that the government is preparing to introduce a platform to provide citizens with the latest coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions by municipality and by regional unit. “A key weapon in the fight against the virus is valid information, therefore, a special platform is being created on the covid19.gov.gr website so citizens will be able to be informed at any time about the measures in force in their area,” Hardalias said during a briefing to the media. According to the deputy minister, the platform will include a map of Greece focused on two levels, per municipality and per regional unit. Citizens will be able to see the degree of risk that applies for a specific area through a color-coded traffic light system: Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. “Each municipality and regional unit will be colored depending on the degree of risk in green, yellow, orange and red,” Hardalias said. Areas can be located through the platform by postal code. In addition to the map, the platform will include a table which will list and provide information on the measures that are in force in accordance to the color categories. “By entering a postal code, citizens will be able to see what applies in terms of measures…what applies for every activity, such as schools, public transport, sports and restaurants,” he said. The platform is expected to launch on Friday on covid19.gov.gr, the official website with information on the measures taken by the Greek government for Covid-19.
