Greek organizations and companies specializing in alternative tourism recently attended a workshop in Thessaloniki and were informed on ways to promote their services to German-speaking markets. Held by We Productions, a Greek company based in Cologne, Germany, and its partner in Greece, Alpha Marketing, the workshop was attended by a number of representatives of Greek companies that specialize in alternative tourism in Thessaloniki and the wider region of central and northern Greece. Attendees included business executives, tourism professionals and representatives from the tourism departments of the Region of Central Macedonia and the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The workshop was the first of a series of actions planned by We Productions and Alpha Marketing that will aim to help Greek businesses gain access to the German market, Greece’s main source of inbound tourism, and German-speaking countries. During the event, Alpha Marketing Managing Director Tasos Gousios presented the marketing methodology required and applied to effectively promote a destination or a business to a German-speaking market. Alpha Marketing will soon announce the framework of cooperation with Greek tourism companies based in Central and Northern Greece, which will include actions to help attract visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Founded in Thessaloniki in 1985, Alpha Marketing is based in Larissa and offers services in Thessaloniki through a branch office. The company offers marketing and communications consulting services to companies and organizations specializing in tourism and has important collaborations with the Laboratory of Tourism Planning, Research and Policy (LA.RE.TOUR), a specialist research unit of the University of Thessaly. Initially based in Alexandroupolis, We Productions was founded some 20 years ago by Iraklis Kalamenios and is active in organizing major cultural events such as music festivals. The company is now active in Germany and its activities focus on promoting Greek tourism destinations and companies in German-speaking markets and provides tools for their participation in tourism exhibitions and B2B meetings. The company also organizes roadshows in the specific markets and Greek festivals in Cologne and Munich to promote Greek culture and tourism. The magazine Griechenland Alternativ (Alternative Greece) is We Productions’ communication vehicle to promote Greece’s alternative tourism offerings to the aforementioned markets.
