Goldair, one of the largest group of companies engaged in the fields of tourism and transport in Greece, managed in 2020 to complete its planned investments and also pursue new growth opportunities, despite the difficulties caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Goldair Group is active in the fields of airlines’ representation and airport services (Goldair SA), freight forwarding and logistics (Goldair Cargo) and aviation security (Brinks).

“The year that we will say farewell to in a few days was undoubtedly one of the most demanding for all businesses and certainly the most difficult in several decades in terms of the humanitarian crisis that the whole planet has experienced and continues to experience,” the Group said in its annual report.

Goldair Handling started the year 2020 with activity at Zurich Airport as the exclusive provider of services for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

The company was also increasing its services for flights on the domestic and international network until the first quarter.

Moreover, having already expanded to Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and India and aiming to further strengthen its network, the company was looking into investment opportunities in the field of handling in the international market.

At the same time, Goldair Cargo continued to carry on its investment plan and proceeded with the construction of new warehouses in Athens with a total area of 10,000 sq.m. The construction of warehouses in Crete with a total area of 3,000 sq.m. is in its final stage.

In 2020, Goldair Group began activity in a new sector and – in collaboration with domestic and multinational enterprises – is now claiming the concession of the ports of Alexandroupolis and Kavala and within 2021 of the port of Volos.

The company’s goal is to be active in ports that have rail connections and that will give added value to its customers, while making Greece “a dynamic regional player and hub of transport and trade and Goldair a protagonist of industry developments”.

It should be noted that Goldair was among the tourism enterprises in Greece that was quick to offer support to Greece’s healthcare system in its efforts to tend to those affected by the coronavirus. The company in April provided 8 state-of-the-art ICU beds to the Greek Health Ministry and also donated 3 modern and fully equipped SUVs to the Hellenic Police to strengthen its needs in Evros and the wider region.

“The Group bids farewell to 2020 with mixed feelings and is ready to face all challenges with respect to its human resources and a sense of confidence in its capabilities and prospects, which is expected from a leader in the logistics tourism industry,” the company said.
