The Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) office in France Dimitra Voziki on Thursday expressed optimism about the reopening of tourism in Greece, especially after the European Commission’s made its proposal on the establishment of an EU-wide digital green certificate.

“After the Commission’s announcement, we can all be moderately optimistic about the restart of tourism in Greece,” she said during the Greek Panorama Virtual exhibition.

“It is not easy for people to plan their vacation at the moment. We are trying to be flexible and always stand by the members of the tourism market… Flexibility is key for the restart of tourism,” Voziki added.

New promotional campaign

The GNTO’s office in France is planning to launch a new tourism campaign for 2021 and a number of promotional activities in efforts to increase the number of French travelers to Greece.

During the Greek Panorama Virtual expo, Voziki highlighted the significance of France as a source tourism market for Greece. As she said, France ranks third in terms of tourism arrivals to Greece with a high average expenditure rate per traveler.

“Obviously, our plans for 2020 have been postponed. We are designing a new dynamic campaign, which will run alongside physical or hybrid events – if possible, as well as press trips and other promotional activities,” she said.

Voziki also announced the launch of an e-learning platform for tourism professionals in collaboration with Tourmag.com, a leading portal for French-speaking travel experts.

The first of its kind in Greece, the platform will be available for three months – until 15 June. By entering the platform, tourism professionals can learn more about Greece, refresh their memory and discover new hidden treasures.
