Brown Hotels has Expansion Plan for Greek Market

Brown Hotels recently officially opened the DAVE Red Athens on Omonia Square, a member of the chain’s affordable urban brand and a new addition to its growing portfolio of hospitality properties in Greece.

Established as a design-driven, affordable brand of urban boutique hotels, DAVE adds Athens to its existing offerings in Tel Aviv.

According to Leon Avigad, founder of Brown Hotels, the DAVE Red Athens presents a young and lively hospitality offering that is unrivalled in the city.

“Following the success of the three DAVE properties in Tel Aviv, we decided to introduce the concept to Athens, bringing the Brown Hotels’ playful counterpart to the revamped Omonia Square,” he said during the hotel’s recent opening event.

In operation since July, the DAVE Red Athens this summer recorded high occupancy numbers and welcomed tourists of various nationalities including Israelis, French, Hungarians, Austrians and Swedes.

More plans for Greek market

Brown Hotels has launched DAVE Red Athens in the Greek capital alongside two other new properties, Brown Acropol also on Omonia Square and Villa Brown Ermou in the Plaka district. Meanwhile, Brown Hotels is also adding another property to its collection on Omonia Square: the Lighthouse Athens (former La Mirage).

But Brown Hotels’ plans for Athens do not stop here. Aiming to expand its Athens’ property portfolio further, Brown Hotels expects to open seven additional hotels in the Greek capital, which will include Brown Spices (Evripidou street), Theodore House (Themistokleous Street), House Sans Rival (Liossion Street) and another hotel on Lykourgou street located behind the already open Brown Acropol.

It should also be mentioned that in summer 2021 Brown Hotels acquired the “Hotels of Athens” group, which includes four properties (Museum, Exarchia; My Athens, Kerameikos; Kubic Athens Smart, near Omonia; and Pythagorion, near Omonia).

All in all the total number of the chain’s hotels in Athens are expected to add up to 17 by 2023.

Brown Hotels’ openings in Athens are part of a broader expansion plan into the Greek market. The chain right now has over 40 hotels in its portfolio in Greece, including properties in Athens, Sounio, Thessaloniki, Evia, Corinth (Peloponnese), Chania and Corfu.

In 2022, Brown Hotels will open its first resort – the Brown Beach Corinthia – in Agioi Theodoroi (Municipality of Loutraki, Peloponnese), an investment of over some 30 million euros.

Future plans include the opening of two hotels in Thessaloniki, one hotel in Sounio (Attica) and a resort in Eretria (Evia), the Grand Bleu Beach, which will be renamed and renovated.
