Announced on Friday, the WTA 2021 winners included a number of Greek hotels and resorts, as well as travel agencies, car rental companies and destinations. The WTA’s acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. The awards are known throughout the sector as the “Oscars of the travel industry” and votes are cast by travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers. “Our winners represent the very best of the Europe’s travel and tourism sector and my congratulations to each of them. They are all playing starring roles in leading the travel and tourism recovery,” World Travel Awards Founder Graham Cooke said. Commenting on Greece’s win, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said: “Greece managed the pandemic and followed medical and travel protocols in the best possible way, proving to the world that it is the most beautiful but also the safest destination. This international award for 2021 comes to confirm that when it comes to tourism we are champions in quality and the travel experience.” The minister added that Greece has extended the season and is will also welcome tourists in November. “The professionals in the field must prepare for a strong 2022,” he highlighted.
