WTM London is an annual business to business exhibition for travel industry professionals and brings together the largest global industry gathering of destinations, tour operators, hotels, airlines, technology and online travel services under one roof. As underlined by the expo’s organizer, this year’s WTM London will be the largest gathering of travel industry professionals in the world since the Covid-19 pandemic began so “it will be the perfect platform for recovery in 2022″. Greece’s main stand at WTM London 2021 will be EU1100 – EU1150. The Visit Greece (Greek National Tourism Organization-GNTO) stand will host a large delegation, including regional tourist boards, travel trade partners, travel agencies, resorts, operators and other players. At WTM London the GNTO will highlight new developments as well as the traditional favourites that Greece is known for – such as its cultural attractions, crystal-clear waters, undiscovered island gems, laid-back Greek way of life and great cuisine. According to Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias, at WTM London 2021 a special focus will be placed on promoting the country as a destination for city breaks and an ideal choice for high-end tourism, to all travel markets. Greece’s lesser-known destinations are also on the ministry’s promotional agenda. Visit Greece press conference Minister Kikilias will be present at the expo and on Monday afternoon will give a press conference at the WTM London’s International Media Centre for journalists, bloggers and travel professionals. He will present the latest updates from Greece with a re-cap of 2021 and a projection towards 2022 alongside new developments in the tourism sector. The press conference will also be attended by guest speaker Vassos Alexander, acclaimed BBC and Virgin radio presenter. Alexander will talk about how his own Greek heritage has provided him with some unique perspectives into modern Greek culture, landmarks and gastronomy. Moreover, the Greek tourism minister will speak at the annual UNWTO, WTTC and WTM Ministers’ Summit, a platform for tourism leaders of the public and private sectors to share best practices and explore investment opportunities, on Tuesday. Greece sponsor of WTM’s International Media Centre Greece will also have an additional platform to promote itself to the world as the GNTO is once again the sponsor of the International Media Centre. “It’s the continuation of a long-term partnership… Greece has long been a favourite among Brits, as well as visitors from other key markets who know they’ll get a warm welcome when they visit,” WTM London Exhibition Director Simon Press said in a recent statement. When travel opened up this summer, Greece proved a huge favourite among UK holidaymakers looking to vacation at a destination that they felt confident to travel to. “When people were able to travel this summer, Greece was one of the stand-out destinations,” he added. According to data from the Bank of Greece, in January-August 2021, the number of inbound travellers from the United Kingdom to Greece rose by 37 percent to 723,000 compared to 2020. Travel receipts from the UK recorded an increase of 75.2 percent to 787 million euros. The UK expo will run until November 3 at ExCeL, London, and will be followed by WTM & TF Virtual during November 8-9. The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) is an official media partner of WTM London.
