Part of Goldair Group, one of the largest group of companies engaged in the fields of tourism and transport in Greece, Goldair Handling provides airport handling services. According to Goldair Group’s recent report on 2021, Goldair Handling is looking to enter the markets of Croatia and Serbia. This year, the company obtained an operating license at Bagdogra Airport in India and within the first quarter of 2022 it will begin to offer services at Udaipur and Goa airports through the LAS-Goldair Handling consortium. In Greece, Goldair Handling plans to modernize its existing ground handling equipment at Athens International Airport with vehicles of green technology within the framework of the tender for the renewal of its operating license at the airport. 2021 performance In terms of performance, in 2021 Goldair Handling recorded signs of recovery, compared to 2020, in the four markets in which it operates. However, overall traffic lagged significantly compared to 2019. In the first half of the year, the number of flights was around 35 percent in relation to the levels of the same period of 2019 due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and the delayed start of the tourism season. On the contrary, there was a significant increase in flights in the beginning of July, following the improvement of Greece’s tourism performance, with the recovery rate of flights ranging from 75 to 80 percent, compared to 2019. On average, 67 percent of flights took place this year compared to 2019, while compared to 2020, traffic increased by 41 percent. Goldair Handling’s performance in Cyprus and Bulgaria slightly exceeded 50 percent of 2019 levels, although traffic increased by 24 percent, compared to 2020. At Zurich airport, where the company provides services for people with disabilities, although passenger traffic increased by 28 percent compared to 2020, it remained down by 66 percent compared to 2019. Goldair Cargo With regard to Goldair Cargo, Goldair said the company was completing a successful year of investments and new collaborations. Goldair Cargo, which provides freight forwarding and logistics services, is continuing to the second phase of the tenders for the privatization of the ports of Alexandroupolis and Kavala, having launched joint ventures with Greek and international multinational groups. Moreover, the company has doubled its stake from 20 percent to 40 percent in the Thriasio Freight Center consortium. ETVA Industrial & Business Parks (ETVA VIPE SA) controls the remaining stake. According to Goldair, the Thriasio Freight Center, upon its completion, will be one of the largest environment-friendly logistics parks in Southeastern Europe. “Goldair Cargo is constantly looking for new investment opportunities in the ports and logistics sectors, while it is also planning to enter new international markets,” Goldair said. Moreover, in mid-2021, Goldair Group introduced Travellair, a new travel agency with premium services. “Although the company started operations in the middle of the year, it completed its first financial cycle with a positive sign, creating a solid foundation and bringing optimism for its progress in the coming years,” Goldair said. The Goldair Group is also active in the fields of airlines’ representation and airport services (Goldair SA) and aviation security (Brinks).
