Photo source: @This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau Dozens of Greek and foreign travel and tourism professionals are participating in the 8th Travel Trade Athens (TTA) 2022, the annual B2B tourism event of the Municipality of Athens that kicked off in the Greek capital on Monday. Following a successful hybrid organization in 2021, TTA is taking place as an in-person event between May 9-10. “Athens is back – with optimism and excitement – despite the many crises we are facing… The launch of the 8th Travel Trade Athens is a moment of joy because we are meeting [in person] again after two difficult years,” Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis told reporters during a press conference on Monday. According to Bakoyannis, during the next two days, a total of 93 Greek tourism enterprises will get in touch with 66 representatives of the international market and conduct a total of 1,400 meetings with the speed dating method. “The result is expected to be quite impressive. Through these pre-scheduled meetings, participants will have the opportunity – under the law of offer and demand – to exchange experiences and showcase their products,” he said. Promoting MICE tourism and entrepreneurship In addition to business meetings, Travel Trade Athens is offering attending suppliers a half day of educational workshops created in collaboration with major international organizations. Select attending buyers and invited press will also enjoy thematic fam trips, social events and networking opportunities. Photo source: @This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau Through the TTA, the Athens Municipality aims to promote the Greek capital as an attractive year-round MICE destination, as well as support local businesses. “Our aim this year, is to reintroduce Athens to our main source markets in Europe, the US and the Middle East… I am confident that the 8th Travel Trade Athens will become the starting point for significant partnerships and collaborations,” Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA) CEO Vagelis Vlachos said. The 8th Travel Trade Athens is organized by EATA throught the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB), in cooperation with the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA).
