A leading UK airline and tour operator to Greece, Jet2 significantly expanded activity in the country this year, including the launch of Athens as a new destination. Following Jet2’s summer 2022 program which included flights to 15 Greek destinations (more than any other UK airline) without any cancellations in July or August (according to data from travel intelligence company OAG) and 1.2 million arriving seats – a capacity increase of almost 90 percent, Heapy plans to announce an even “bigger” program for summer 2023. 2023 flight program: New routes & plans for Athens According to a source, Heapy will present Jet2’s largest ever program to Greece on sale, which will include three brand new routes (Bristol-Chania, East Midlands-Santorini and London Stansted-Athens); Athens becoming a year-round destination; Easter flights added to Rhodes; and increased frequency to destinations such as Corfu, Rhodes and Skiathos. During his stay on each island he will present the company’s strategy for 2023 and meet with hoteliers and local government representatives. During these meetings, he will talk about Jet2’s confidence in the Greek market and how committed the company is to create and grow long-term mutually beneficial strategic relations with hotel partners. It is reminded that Jet2 recently announced that it would increase the number of flights in 2023 to the South Aegean Islands it flies to, which include favorites like Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini. Isn’t the market already a bit saturated with flights to those extremely popular islands though? It would be nice to see flights to Kavala for instance for people that want to go by ferry to Thasos island which is beautiful, green, very cheap and not as well known in the UK. There are plenty of airlines that offer trips to Rhodes and Corfu. Reply Ann Welch 27 September 2022 - 19:42 It’s good to come direct to an island but many of us who use Jet 2 actually live here and don’t come just for holidays . We are often keen for friends and families to be able to visit us , so knowing that there are regular flights for people like us is very helpful . I have groups of artists who visit so this so regular flights make things much easier Reply Sharon tipler 27 September 2022 - 18:13 Great idea but for those of us that have flight only especially to zante there is only one option now from eastmidlands which is a Monday Al the other days are for package holidays so we are having to go with tui because they have more flight options Reply Leave a Comment Cancel Reply Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
