A renowned city landmark, the Hilton Athens is being converted into a new mixed-use destination that will comprise luxury hospitality and residential offering under the name of “Conrad” (the first name of the Hilton chain’s founder Conrad Hilton). The new destination, which follows an agreement between Hilton and the property’s owner Ionian Hotel Enterprises (IHE), is expected to welcome its first guests between late 2024 and early 2025. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 10-year anniversary event of Marketing Greece, Achilleas Konstantakopoulos, president of TEMES SA, one of the two shareholders of Ionian Hotel Enterprises, said the new destination will aim to become a focal point of reference for both visitors and locals, and significantly upgrade the image of the entire area. The new mixed-use destination, a concept introduced to Athens for the first time, represents a strategic investment of more than 130 million euros by IHE – in addition to the initial 145 million euros for the property acquisition – and will introduce Conrad Hotels & Resorts alongside Waldorf Astoria and Conrad branded residences. The new Conrad luxury hotel will include approximately 280 stylishly appointed guest rooms and suites, alongside approximately 50 premium private residences under the Conrad and Waldorf Astoria brands. According to reports, the 50 private residences have already been sold at a price of around 20,000 euros per square meter. The Conrad will also feature a private lifestyle members’ club spanning 5,500 square meters, multiple culinary and entertainment venues, curated shopping as well as leisure and wellness experiences, with the goal of contributing further to establishing Athens among the top choices in Europe to travel or live.
