The flights to Greece are among the 20 destinations around the world the airline will by flying to as part of its network expansion for the upcoming summer season. The flag carrier of Kuwait will fly to Mykonos two times per week on Sundays and Wednesdays and to Athens with one flight per week on Fridays. Flights will be operated via Airbus A320neo aircraft. “These two destinations are among the important ones for our valued customers based on their choice and because of their touristic attractions, diverse ancient heritage, as well as historical and cultural sites,” Chief Executive Officer Kuwait Airways Maen Razouqi said in a recent announcement. According to Razouqi, Mykonos and Athens were selected after systematic research of their feasibility, profitability, and their impact, in addition to the popularity of these routes. It is noted that this is the second year that Kuwait Airways will fly to Mykonos. Photo source: Kuwait Airways “Τhe launch of Athens and Mykonos as destinations is an important part of the joint cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Greece,” said the Ambassador of Greece to the State of Kuwait, Konstantinos Piperigos. He added that the launch of the two destinations will provide passengers from Kuwait with a good opportunity to understand the history of Greece with its diverse culture, in addition to enjoying holidays and recreational programs. “Kuwait Airways’ announcement of operating to the destinations of Athens and Mykonos is a result of the extent of relations between the Republic of Greece and the friendly State of Kuwait and their convergence of views, in the public interest of both parties,” Piperigos said. Photo source: Fraport Greece Referring to Kuwait Airways’ new flight to the city of Athens and re-launch of flights to the island of Mykonos, Kuwait Airways Board Member Adel Al-Sanea said the decision is based on the strategic objectives of the Board of Directors and the Executive Management and their initiatives towards the expansion of the airline’s network, linking the countries of the world. “Moreover, the Republic of Greece has also achieved highest reservations during 2022, due to its distinction as an excellent destination for tourism throughout the year due to its historical and cultural significance and its favourable climate,” he said. For the 2023 season, Kuwait Airways has also announced flights 20 destinations including to Budapest in Hungary, to Malaga in Spain, to Sarajevo in Bosnia, to Vienna in Austria, to Nice in France and to Antalya in Turkey.
