2023 Year in Review Greece Invites Tourists to Live ‘A Life-changing Experience’ by Nikos Krinis 11 May 2023 written by Nikos Krinis 11 May 2023 4 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 46 The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) on Thursday screened a new promotional campaign aimed to inspire travelers to visit Greece this season. The new “Greece. A life-changing experience” campaign features a tourist in Greece and follows the experiences she lives during her holiday: from diving into crystal clear waters from a high spot and washing a tomato in the sea to dancing with locals at panigiria (open air celebrations). The GNTO uses a fresh and fun approach to highlight the experiences one can live while on holiday in Greece – experiences that come from the untouched nature, the simplicity and authenticity of the country. This is the side of Greece that the GNTO wants to promote this year, showing travelers that the country can offer numerous authentic experiences through its people and nature – experiences beyond the classic ones. As the campaign’s protagonist says: “Coming to Greece is not really a holiday… It’s so much more! … It’s a life-changing experience!” The presentation of the new campaign took place on Thursday at the GNTO’s headquarters in Athens during an event attended by Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias, GNTO President Angela Gerekou and GNTO General Secretary Dimitris Fragakis. The new “Greece. A life-changing experience” campaign follows a number of promotional campaigns launched by the GNTO in the last four years, especially during the period of the pandemic. “These efforts aimed to keep the image of Greece ‘alive’ in the public’s mind during the pandemic,” the organization’s general director, Sofia Lazaridou, said while referring to the previous campaigns. GNTO General Director Sofia Lazaridou presenting the organization’s campaigns for Greek tourism launched during the past two years. These efforts include the “Greece From Home” campaign, launched in April 2020 when the world was in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic; and the “Destination Greece Health First” campaign, released in July 2020 to promote Greece as a safe travel destination when the country opened again to travelers. In 2021, the GNTO came back with its “All you want is Greece” campaign and continued with its “Greece Does Have a Winter” campaign to promote the country’s mainland destinations. Last year, the GNTO’s “You Will Want to Stay Forever” campaign went beyond the depiction of the Greece’s popular destinations and told a story. The campaign was warmly received. The new “Greece. A life-changing experience” campaign will be promoted in international media outlets in select markets abroad. Our family enjoys the weather, food, people, Mediterranean lifestyle. Greece has a way of reminding you what is important in life. I like also many of their values related to enjoying and spending time with family and friends. Reply Zeus 16 May 2023 - 15:08 I have been visiting Greece for the last 20 years and 10 years ago I decide to pack up leave the USA/Australia to live in Greece and I love it! still one of the cheapest countries in Europe. I was just in Lisboan for few days, and I could not believe their prices in general. We are so very luck to live in GREECE! Reply Jeffrey 12 May 2023 - 17:28 I first visited Greece in 1997 and immediately fell in love with the country, the people and everything that is uniquely Greece. After two years of back and forth vacations to Greece from Miami, I woke up one morning and decided to move to Greece permanently. Having no family in Greece, and only a few friends in the country, it was a huge change and arguably, a huge risk. I nevertheless, sold my home in Miami, left my business interests, packed my life and was on a plane within 2 weeks of making that fateful decision. It was truly a life-changing, and I have never once regretted that decision. America may be where I was born, but GREECE IS MY COUNTRY! It will forever be my home and I can easily identify with the experience of subject of featured in this article.
