More specifically, more than 4.8 million visitors arrived to Greece through the road border points of the Central – Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region from the beginning of May until July 12 – the highest number since the outbreak of Covid 2019. According to data provided by the General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia, a total of 2,366,882 people entered Greece by road through the Promachonas border station compared to 1,199,749 in 2022 and 533,274 people in 2021. A total of 1,078,767 people entered through the Evzones station in the period under review compared to 1,352,045 in 2022 and 598,131 in 2021. Through the border points of Nymphaea a total of 303,016 arrivals were recorded, 57,618 through Thermes, 540,626 through Kipoi, 160,467 via Exochi, 62,342 from Kyprinos, 130,040 from Kastanies, and 174,053 from Ormenio. Key source markets for road arrivals in the May-July 12 period were Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Turkey, and Poland. In the January-May period this year, Greece welcomed 2.3 million international road arrivals compared to 1.5 million in 2022, up by 52.9 percent.
