Photo source: WTTC Kigali, Rwanda: Global luxury travel network Virtuoso and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) will launch a new initiative aimed to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the backbone of the travel and tourism industry. Named “Together in Travel”, the initiative was announced by the company’s chairman & CEO, Matthew Upchurch, during the WTTC’s 23rd Global Summit held in Kigali, Rwanda. “We are in the midst of launching a new initiative with WTTC called Together in Travel,” Upchurch said from the stage of the summit on Thursday. According to Virtuoso’s CEO, the initiative will see to “connect” SME’s from all over the world to the industry’s global narrative and share practical tools, created by some of the world’s largest companies in travel, to help their growth and be communicated on a frequent basis. Photo © Greek Travel Pages (GTP) “This initiative aims for SME’s to have pride in what they do; to be inspired by the (success) stories of others and be able to show those stories; and to be able to have practical tools created by some of the world’s largest companies in travel,” he said. Further details on the “Together in Travel” initiative is expected to be announced in the near future. The WTTC’s first ever global summit in Africa, the event attracted more than 1,200 delegates in Kigali, Rwanda, from some 45 countries.
