With the recent inauguration of the Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port hotel in spring 2024, Mitsis is keenly aware of the evolving needs of the city’s tourism product and the Greek hospitality industry. Speaking at a Piraeus Municipality event, Mitsis emphasized the city’s diverse tourism identity, which offers visitors a wide range of experiences. He noted that this potential is further enhanced by the increasing commercial activity at the Port of Piraeus, the largest in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. “Piraeus holds immense potential,” said Mitsis, pointing out that in past years, the area was primarily a transit point, with tourism largely overlooked. As the city continues to attract more visitors, these new developments will not only improve the tourism infrastructure but also draw even more travelers,” Mitsis said. In recent years, Piraeus has emerged as an attractive destination for business and leisure travelers from diverse backgrounds, eager to explore the city’s offerings in business, culture, and gastronomy. Mitsis highlighted the positive trend reflected in the high number of arrivals at the new Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port hotel, with projected revenues expected to double initial estimates in its first year of operation. In conclusion, Mitsis described Piraeus as a destination “rich in experiences” that promise a pleasant and fulfilling stay for all visitors. He added that addressing the gaps in the city’s hospitality market makes the future of tourism in Piraeus “look promising”. The event, entitled “Sustainable Tourism Development: A Crucial Factor for the Future of Piraeus Trade”, was organized by the Piraeus Municipality in collaboration with the Piraeus Traders Association.
