Halkidiki in Northern Greece is emerging as a sought-after destination for the 2025 tourism season, with significant increases in flight bookings reported by leading European tour operators and airlines.

Feedback was gathered during the Halkidiki Tourism Organization’s (HTO) participation in the recent 2024 WTM London exhibition, aimed at positioning the destination on the international tourism map.

Greece’s role as Premier Partner of the 2024 fair created an ideal platform to promote Halkidiki as a premium travel destination for 2025, highlighting a diverse range of vacation options with activities to suit every type of traveler.

During meetings with representatives from UK leisure airline Jet2.com, an 11 percent increase in early bookings for next year was reported compared to the same period in 2023. In response to high demand, the airline will increase flights to Halkidiki from 11 to 12 per week, with direct flights beginning earlier on April 5, 2025. Furthermore, a new direct route from East Midlands is set to launch in 2026.

Strengthening this positive trend, English travelers booking holidays in Halkidiki through TUI Group have increased by 5 percent, showing a preference for sustainable hotels that highlight local culture.

HTO officials highlighted that this elevates Halkidiki as a leading destination for the UK market.

From November 4 to 6, representatives presented their strategy to prominent international tourism professionals, including esteemed tour operators, travel agencies, and journalists, with a focus on strengthening commercial partnerships.

Halkidiki’s exhibition presence culminated in its recognition as the Best Emerging Destination 2024 at the Greek Travel Awards, reflecting its alignment with the needs of modern travelers.

“This year’s participation in WTM and the recognition as Best Emerging Destination for 2024 underscore Halkidiki’s great potential and solid position in the European tourism market,” stated HTO President Grigoris Tasios.

“We are committed to further investing in quality, promoting authentic experiences, and collaborating with top tourism operators to enhance Halkidiki’s role as a unique destination.”
