Photo source: Mitsis Hotels Mitsis Hotels is significantly enhancing its presence in the Greek hospitality sector, with major investments planned for its properties in Athens, Piraeus, Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Halkidiki, and Mykonos. The group’s recent business initiatives have strengthened its position on the Greek tourism map, marking an important step in its growth strategy. Among its major upcoming projects is the renovation of the Bali Paradise hotel on Crete, set to reopen in 2027. The group signed a 10-year property management agreement last year for the 4-star seaside hotel in Rethymno. Following extensive renovations, the hotel will be reintroduced as a 5-star property. Photo source: Mitsis In addition to the Bali Paradise renovation, Mitsis Hotels is investing 80 million euros into transforming the historic Mitsis Grand Hotel on Rhodes into a year-round luxury destination. Scheduled for reopening in 2026, the revamped hotel will include luxurious private residences and suites. The group is also restoring the Schliemann-Mela Mansion in central Athens, converting it into a 5-star hotel. The 36-million-euro project, expected to create 150 new jobs, will revitalize this late-19th-century building, also known as Megaron Mela. Photo source: Mitsis Hotels Other projects in development include the creation of a 5-star hotel with approximately 194 beds in Mykonos’ Elia area, as well as the Afandou project on Rhodes and the redevelopment of the “Galini” hotel in Kamena Vourla, located in Central Greece. This includes plans to redevelop the town’s thermal springs. Mitsis Hotels has also expanded its presence on Corfu, a destination where it previously had no operations. The group acquired the 4-star Messonghi Beach Hotel and entered a 10-year management agreement for the 3-star Belvedere Hotel, a seaside all-inclusive resort. A history of expansion and excellence Over the years, Mitsis Hotels has grown significantly, establishing itself as a leader in the Greek hospitality sector. The company’s major hotel developments between 2010 and 2013 included properties on the islands of Crete, Kos, and Rhodes. In 2016, the group launched a 100 million euros investment plan to refurbish key properties, including Rinela in Heraklion, Rodos Village on Rhodes, Norida and Summer Palace on Kos. These refurbishments further reinforced the company’s commitment to excellence. The group continued to grow in 2018 with the acquisition of the Grand Hotel, and in 2019, it established the Filoxenia management company to strengthen its expertise. Mitsis Hotels further expanded its portfolio in 2022 with the acquisition of Cretan Village and Royal Mare on Crete, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining high operational standards while broadening its footprint.
