Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), a leading owner of resort hotels in Southern Europe and backed by funds managed by Blackstone and GIC, has expanded its presence in Greece, one of its priority growth markets. With the addition of two properties — the Sunprime Miramare Beach Hotel on Rhodes and Alexander The Great Beach Hotel in the Halkidiki peninsula — HIP’s portfolio in Greece now includes ten hotels encompassing 2,641 rooms. The Sunprime Miramare Beach Hotel marks HIP’s debut on the island of Rhodes. The five-star, 174-room resort enjoys a prime beachfront location on Ixia Beach, one of the island’s most sought-after spots. HIP plans significant investment in the property, which will see the renovation of its rooms, common areas, and culinary and leisure offerings. In Halkidiki, HIP has acquired its second property, the Alexander The Great Beach Hotel, which boasts a premium beachfront location with direct access to one of the area’s Blue Flag beaches. Previously family-owned, the 208-room hotel will be operated by the Mitsis Group following extensive refurbishment. HIP intends to reposition the property as a family-oriented all-inclusive luxury resort, enhancing the appeal of one of mainland Greece’s most desirable destinations. Already present on the islands of Corfu, Crete, and Zakynthos, HIP’s investments demonstrate its commitment to creating value in Greece through strategic acquisitions and repositioning of assets. The company has so far invested nearly 100 million euros in the renovation and enhancement of its Greek properties. As part of its broader sustainability goals, five of HIP’s hotels in Greece have achieved the BREEAM “Very Good” certification, underscoring its focus on environmentally responsible operations. In addition to its growing footprint in Greece, HIP is heavily focused on creating high-value tourism experiences across its portfolio, which includes plans for more than 750 million euros in investments across its resorts and hotels in Spain and Greece. In Athens, HIP recently acquired the iconic Grand Hyatt Athens. On Crete, it has two assets: Domes Aulus Elounda and Atlantica Ocean Beach Resort. On Corfu, the company operates Domes Corfu and Dreams Corfu Resort Spa. HIP’s properties on Zakynthos include AluaSoul Zakynthos and Domes Aulus Zante, while in Halkidiki, the company owns Domes Noruz Kassandra and the newly acquired Alexander The Great Beach Hotel. Finally, on Rhodes, the Sunprime Miramare Beach Hotel marks HIP’s first property on the island. Speaking at the recent R&R Hospitality Forum in Athens, HIP Investments Senior Director Luis Picas highlighted Greece as a priority market for the company, citing its attractive opportunities compared to other European destinations like Spain. “HIP’s intention is to continue investing in Greece, which has enormous prospects,” Picas said. He also highlighted that key established tourism destinations, such as the Cyclades, remain high on the company’s radar. “As long-term investors, we focus on acquiring hotels and collaborating with local and international operators to bring out the best in each property,” Picas concluded.
