Brevet Philippi is an annual event organized by local cycling and civil society organizations, within the historical plain of Philippi Park region. It follows the development rules on cycling tourism set by the Brevet Randonneurs Mondiaux και Audax Club Parissien and is supervized by the Brevet Randonneurs Greece. Brevet Philippi is a 210 km historical route, passing through more than 20 local villages and the Municipalities of Kavala, Drama, Doxato, Prosotsani, Nea Zichni and Amphipolis
This cycling route unites some very important cultural, agricultural and environmental places, of which the most famous are the Archeological site of Philippi (Unesco World Heritage site), the Valley of Philippi and the Archaeological site of Amphipolis. The Brevet Philippi event aims to promote the Roman Battle of Philippi that took place at 42 b.C and was so important that changed the history of Democracy within Europe and the World.
The Brevet Philippi is an ambitious effort with international development goals around the Balkan and European countries, attracting visitors with sports and cultural interest and with an initial interest in cycling but also in other sports and cultural products. The products and services of the region are promoted through the mantle of culture and sport. During the event, local products are promoted, tourism and activities are provided by local gastronomy, tourism and entertainment businesses. Local communities participate and the cultural and environmental monuments of the wider region are dynamically promoted.
