The Athens Democracy Forum, in association with The New York Times, is an international conference organized by The Democracy and Culture Foundation and has tracked the plight of liberal democracy for more than a decade now, seeking for ways to defend and perpetuate the ideal of rule by and for the people. What we have learned is that however disheartening the state of global governance might seem, democracy never fails to demonstrate a remarkable resiliency
On September 27-29, leading policy makers, business leaders, scholars and other experts will assemble to define, assess and tackle the critical questions about the world at this moment.
The aim of the Athens Democracy Forum is to serve as the North Star on which democracy and society can reorient themselves. It seeks to make democracy work.
The Forum’s sessions in Athens will be taking place at the Grande Bretagne Hotel, the Stoa of Attalos and the Acropolis Museum.
Immediately after the Athens Democracy Forum from September 27 to 29, a limited number of delegates will move on to “Democracy and Wellbeing” weekend at Costa Navarino from September 29 to October 1. The weekend will kick off with an exclusive conversation between Deepak Chopra and the veteran New York Times journalist Roger Cohen, exploring Chopra’s own approach to achieving this balance and to the future of wellbeing.
The weekend will then continue with a spotlight on the complex relationship between technology and wellbeing. AI is advancing at light speed, making some people concerned that the technology could garner too much power. At the same time, there are exciting applications that could actually enhance creativity and wellbeing. Is superhuman intelligence something to be feared or eagerly anticipated?
