Τhe Ioannina Lake Run is an annual running event held in Ioannina, Greece, centered around the picturesque Lake Pamvotida.
This years event is scheduled for September 21-22, 2024, and offers a variety of races for different age groups and abilities, including a 30 km Lake Run, a 10 km Road Race, a 5 km Road Race, and special races such as the Lake Run Kids Race and the Family Run.
The event is not just a race but a festival with various activities. It begins with cycling around the lake and includes an official opening ceremony. Over the weekend, there are races for primary school students, persons with disabilities, and families, along with the main competitive races.
All races start and finish at Mavili Square, which also hosts the registration center and several pre-race activities.
The routes are certified by IAAF/AIMS, ensuring they meet international standards. Participants can expect electronic timing, well-marked courses, and multiple water supply stations. Safety is a priority, with medical services and volunteers present throughout the event.
