The northern Greek prefecture of Pieria plans to spend a total of 153 million drachmas to participate at all major tourism exhibitions that take place this year.

At 12 fairs, the Pieria’s tourism promotion authority will participate as a co-exhibitor together with the region of central Macedonia. But it will exhibit with its own stand at London’s World Travel Market and at Bucharest’s tourism fair as well as at Greece’s own Philoxenia and Tourist Panorama fairs.

Of the 153 million drachmas budgeted for promotion, the Hellenic Tourism Organization provides 70 million drachmas, the local authority 40 million drachmas, and the remainder will come from Pieria municipalities and tourism enterprises.

The tourism authority is also interested in attracting more domestic visitors this year and has launched a study to determine the best possible form of promotion within Greece, which also will be co-funded by EOT.
