Dodecanese Maritime, a new provincial company, launched a newly-built catamaran named the Dodecanese Express last month at Greece’s main port, Piraeus. The vessel then made its way to Rodos, where it will be based. The vessel, which is 40.5 meters long and 11.46 meters wide, will provide a local service in the Dodecanese. It can carry 341 passengers and six passenger vehicles.

Captain Ilias Kotiadis, director of Dodecanese Maritime, said the vessel was built according to the latest technology and the company is ready to cover the needs of the people in the region. “Apart from the boat’s luxuriousness and speed, the people of the Dodecanese should know that it is equipped with the best safety features,” he noted. Additionally, the company’s Panagia Skiadeni ferry will soon arrive in Greece. On arrival, it will go to shipyards in Perama for renovations. Once these are complete, the vessel will service the Piraeus-Astypalea-Nisyros-Tylos-Symi-Rodos route three times a week.
