Nel Lines now sails a rocket-fast vessel that cuts sailing times to Chios and Mytilini from Piraeus by two-thirds. The new Aeolos Express shoots across the Aegean at speeds up to 66 kilometers per hour. It can carry 1,000 passengers and 210 vehicles. The Aeolos can reach Chios from Piraeus in a mere 2.5 hours instead of the traditional nine hours. It runs from Piraeus to Mytilini in 3.5 hours, compared with 10.5 hours taken by the conventional ferries that have run the route up until now. The new Aeolos, a Corsaire 12000,was built in French shipyards. The same yards will construct two additional vessels for Nel with delivery scheduled for May and June of next year.
