Earlier this year, the company began plans for a complete reorganization so as to keep up to date with the rapid changes in competition. Reorganization plans should be completed by the close of next year. Recently, the company went ahead with a share capital increase. Its share was boosted by 50 million drachmas to 155 million drachmas. Doucas Tours also has completed and full upgrade of all date processing facilities at its Chalkidiki office, which enables the full automation of the firm’s operations. Last year, the company catered to more than 65,000 travellers, mostly from abroad. The most popular packages included cruises to Mt Athos and the resort town of Toroni, chosen by12,000 and 9,000 visitors respectively, while the tour of Thessaloniki City followed with 6,000. At Chalkidiki, Doucas Tours represents leading tour operations such as Thomson Travel, First Choice, ITS, Air Conti, Billa Reisen, Oeger Tours, Hotelplan, Apollo-Austria, Kompas, Berge & Meer, Amathus Holidays and Vacances Heliades. The Greek firm offers these organizations a wide range of services, such as support in hotel reservations, transfers and the provision of day trips. Doucas Tours was established in Thessaloniki in 1885 as a maritime agency and today in considered one of the country’s top tourist companies. It employs a staff of 45 experienced tourism specialists and serves more than 110,000 clients annually.
