The direct flights are offered every Monday and Friday. The company is now considering a connection between the popular Greek resort isle of Mykonos with Smyrna. Mykonos is considered a satisfactory alternative for Turkish tourists. Alex Baltatzi, the chairman of the Aegean travel agents association and deputy chairman of the Turkish travel agents association, said the abolition of the direct connection between Smyrna, Turkey’s third largest city, and Greece several years ago created major problems. Now, with the strengthening of Greek-Turkish relations, it is time for expansion in the field of transport. He also underlined a need for further cooperation in the field of marine tourism between the two countries and called for a reduction in bureaucracy, particularly at customs.
